OPTICAL THEODOLITE,

Abstract

An Author Certificate has been issued for an optical theodolite containing a dismountable telescope with optical micrometer, an optical reading system, and a horizontal limb. For simplicity of design and convenience in calibration, the clearance-operating optical reading system of the vertical circle is designed in the form of a single transmitting arm consisting of two alidade prisms and two coaxially arranged prismatic objective lenses. To eliminate delayed action on the part of the alidade, the theodolite has a fastening mechanism designed in the form of gears. These gears transmit the movement toward the center to a Cardan shaft with a bushing-rested ball. To protect the vertical axial system from damage during transport, the theodolite is equipped with an unloading arrangement, combined with the mechanical centering device and designed in the form of a beaded nut. Finally, for increased sighting accuracy, the theodolite employs an apochromatically corrected telescope. (Author)
