A HYDROSTATIC BEARING AS A SOURCE OF VIBRATIONS,
Abstract
The author studies a hydrostatic bearing with communicating chambers as a source of vibrations. Analysis of load capacity begins with a three-chamber bearing with the relative dimensions where the size of the radial gap is determined when the shaft occupies a concentric position relative to the ring. Next a five-chamber bearing was analyzed with the relative dimensions. The results of calculations showed that the five-chamber bearing had the same load capacity for any direction of the rotating load vector. Thus a change from a three-chamber bearing to a five-chamber one eliminates the undesirable vibrations of the shaft connected with the different supporting power of the lubricating layer.
