SURFACE FLOAT LIFT SYSTEM FOR LARGE OBJECT SALVAGE SYSTEM (LOSS): FEASIBILITY AND ANALYTICAL STUDIES.

Abstract

A study was conducted to determine the feasibility of using winches supported in minimum response surface floats to carry out a large object salvage lift. A mathematical model was developed to determine the dynamic loads and motions in the lift system. Preliminary estimates of float size, weight, arrangement, stability and cost were made. The effects of the float geometry on seaway response were determined. (Author)
