AN OUTLINE OF SELECTED PERSUASION RESEARCH BETWEEN 1952 AND 1967

Abstract

Selected research papers in the area of persuasion and attitude change appearing between 1952 and 1967 are summarized with respect to the issues used as targets of persuasion, the kinds of experimental subjects employed, techniques of attitude measurement, method of persuasive manipulation, and manner of reporting attitude change. Several shortcomings of these research reports are described, and implications are drawn for the improvement of scientific reporting in this area.
