TEST OF THE 20mm. GUN M1 MOUNTED IN VARIOUS RING SPRING ADAPTERS.
Abstract
Preliminary tests to determine the displacement-time relationship of the 20 mm. gun M1 mounted in three ring spring recoil adapters were made. These tests indicated that the adapter equipped with the medium spring with one of three assembled heights might be desirable. Trunnion reactions of the gun and adapter for each of these three assembled heights were determined at normal temperature and at sub-zero temperature by means of piezo-electric gages and the cathode-ray oscillograph. Later a fourth adapter, was tested at normal temperature and at sub-zero temperature. (Author)
