TESTS OF THE 20 MM OBERLIKON GUN, MARK IV.

Abstract

Data on weights, center of gravity, force vs. deflection of springs and velocity of projectile were determined in the usual way. Trunnion reactions were determined by means of piezo-electric gages and the cathode ray oscillograph. Typical records of the trunnion reaction vs. time and also displacement vs. time are given. Surges of the barrel spring are shown by high speed motion pictures which were taken during the test. The effect of spring surge is discussed. The results of tests to investigate malfunctions are also discussed. (Author)
