INVESTIGATION OF RIBONUCLEIC ACIDS INDUCTED BY SENDAI VIRUS IN CELLS OF EHRLICH ASCITES CARCINOMA,
Abstract
Ascites cells infected by Sendai virus synthesize at least four RNA components with sedimentation constants 10S, 18S, 36S and 48S. These components are synthesized in definite succession. Components 10S and 18S are detected during the first hour after infection, while components 36S and 48S appear after two hours. The synthesis of all components occurs with increasing velocity. Thermal fractionation made it possible during the first hour after infection to separate from the cells at 65 degrees virus-induced RNA together with the fraction of stable RNA messenger cell. Further along in the process of infection, conditions of separation of virus-induced RNA altered. At later stages of infection RNA can be separated from the cells at 55 and 40 degrees and by the fifth hour, the bulk of it is extracted at 4 degrees. (Author)
