PERFORATED-TAPE READERS IN AUTOMATIC MONITORING AND CONTROL SYSTEMS (A BRIEF REVIEW OF SOVIET DEVELOPMENTS),

Abstract

In order to satisfy requirements of reliability, operating speed, small size and weight, tape readers employing the photoelectric reading method should be used as the program input devices in automatic monitoring and control systems. At the present time the most acceptable program input device of this kind is the SP-2 tape reader. However, it is also important to take into consideration the shortcomings of this unit. The development and serial production of photoelectrically operating tape readers capable of meeting the basic requirements of automatic control system input devices continue to be tasks of vital importance.
