AN IMPROVED SYNTHESIS OF 1,6-DICARBACLOSODECABORANE(10).
Abstract
Hydroboration of a diethyl ether solution of NaB7C2H13/B7C2H13 yields 1,6-B8C2H10 in 74% yield. Recovery of the unreacted B7C2H13 raises the yield to 82%. The C-monomethyl, C,C'-dimethyl, and C-monophenyl derivatives of 1,6-B8C2H10 can be prepared in somewhat higher yields. (Author)
