MANUFACTURING PROCESS FOR LARGE SHEETS OF TRANSPARENT SINGLE CRYSTAL ALUMINUM OXIDE FOR THE CZOCHRALSKI METHOD

Abstract

Work has continued to develop the Czochralski process for the growth of high crystal alumina oxide in plate form. More emphasis has been placed during the third quarter in the development of the large size furnace. Some large size material with approximate dimensions of 66 x 66 x 1/26 thick development work is requred in order to improve the optical qualities. Some fabrication work was carried out to develop a suitable technique for grinding and polishing the large plates.
