REDUCTION OF OSCILLATOR INTERACTION FAILURES WITH FREQUENCY MODULATION,

Abstract

The probability of failure of two proximity fuzes employing interacting frequency modulated oscillators is determined. It is shown that, in some fuze to fuze encounter situations, frequency modulation will improve the failure probability of an unmodulated oscillator fuze by the square root of twice the number of lock-in widths to which it is modulated.
