STRUCTURE AND PROPERTIES OF WELDED JOINTS IN SAP,

Abstract

The welding of sheet sintered aluminum powder (SAP) materials was investigated, with sheets of APS-1 powder containing 6-9 percent aluminum oxide used on the initial material. The AR-3 hand torch and ADSV-2 automatic welder were used, with wire of alloy AMg6 as the filler. Strength and hardness were measured in various zones of welds made with different techniques and specimens were tested to destruction for tensile strength. Very strict welding conditions (high rates and smallest possible welding current) are recommended to reduce the irreversible charges in SAP structure and to reduce the area in which weakening occurs.
