THE POSSIBILITIES OF MAKING CAPACITIVE ELEMENTS FOR ANALOG COMPUTERS,

Abstract

The principle of making analog computer elements for generating a function of two independent variables is described. The capacitive elements consist of a dielectric surface, conductive regions serving as one capacitor plate pair, and plates which are allowed to move in the XY plane. The configuration of region A which is associated with function F(x, y) may be determined on a digital computer. Examples of generating sinusoidal and consinusoidal functions are illustrated.
