KINEMATIC ANALYSIS OF THE 20MM AUTOMATIC GUN OF THE T74 TYPE (GERMAN M.G. 213).

Abstract

With the assumption of an elliptic cam, the cyclic function of a drum gun mechanism was analyzed in a general way. The most characteristic figures are the rate of fire, the maximum cam force and the maximum velocities of slide and drum. In addition to the weights of the slide and the drum and the dimensions of the cam, the influence of the driving spring, the friction and the mounting were taken into consideration by five (5) calculation steps. Finally a system of formulae was obtained which describes the relationships. It allows for the precalculation of the cycle as well as for the evaluation of testing records with regard to a drum gun of any caliber. (Author)
