EVALUATION OF SOILS AND PERMAFROST CONDITIONS IN THE TERRITORY OF ALASKA BY MEANS OF AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS. VOLUME I,

Abstract

The report, entitled 'Evaluation of Soils and Permafrost Conditions in The Territory of Alaska by Means of Aerial Photographs,' presents the results of one phase of the investigation of airfield construction in arctic and subarctic regions being conducted by the St. Paul District, Corps of Engineers, Department of the Army. The overall investigation has as its objective the determination of design criteria and construction methods for areas of permanently frozen ground. The objective of this phase of the investigation has been the development of a technique whereby engineering soils and permafrost conditions could be evaluated from aerial photographs. (Author)
