APPRAISAL OF QUALITY OF THE OPTICAL SECTION OF A TELEVISION SYSTEM,

Abstract

It is shown that the numerical criteria - resolving power, detail contrast, signal-to-noise ratio - are not efficient for lenses perfection rating because the value of normalized sensing functions which characterize the perception of optical image sharpness, contrast and noise is equal to unity. Carried out is analysis of optical chain perfection of the television system on the basis of integral criterion according to several factors in combination - resolving power, aperture - frequency characteristics shape, detail contrast and signal-to-noise ratio. The perfection of the best and average television lenses conjugated with pick-up tubes of vidicon-type, supericonoscope and super-orthicon is estimated. (Author)
