SETTING UP STANDARDS FOR CORRELATION READING MACHINES,

Abstract

A number of terms in the technology and general operation of reading machines are given and defined. It is explained that the image being read is often broken up into discrete small portions, in a sort of netting effect, where each element in the net is shaded or darkened to some extent. The capacity of a reading machine and its operational speed are determined basically by the number of such elements.
