THE PROBLEM OF DETERMINING CH3-GROUP CONTENT IN ETHYLENE-PROPYLENE COPOLYMERS BY IR SPECTROSCOPY,

Abstract

In ethylene-propylene copolymers the optical density of the 1378/cm band is not constant for a given specimen, but depends on the form of the superimposed methylene 1369-1350/cm doublet. The form of the 1369-1350/cm methylene doublet depends on the crystallinity of the specimen. It is possible to select a correction for superposition of the methylene doublet at any crystallinity by using the 1890/cm band. (Author)
