BASES OF MIRROR SCANNING THEORY,

Abstract

The mechanism of mirror scanning is examined with one rotating mirror in the most common form. Equations for the locus of the image, the velocity of the image point in image space, the coordinates of the point of reflection are found. On the basis of the metric method, the direction cosines of the reflected ray (of the optical axis of the system) are found in image space and also the vector which determines the image plane (normal to the incident ray). Formulas for calculating the rotation of this vector in the image plane are given. Particular cases which appear when designing instruments with mirror scanning are examined and the basic scanning parameters for these cases are established. (Author)
