Abstract

The book briefly discusses the history of communications over the 50 years of Soviet rule; it indicates the state of communications in the nation in the past, the difficulties involved in subsequent development, the gradual improvement in communications services to the national economy, institutions, organizations, and the population; progress in equipment and growth in communications facilities is sketched; the principal organizational and social measures directed at improvement of industry operation are noted.
