THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF DIGITAL SYSTEMS.

Abstract

The report summarizes the activities of a workshop on relationships between theory and practice for digital systems. Problem areas that were covered in the workshop include problems of parallelism, complexity of algorithms, graph algorithms, hardware and software design problems in digital systems, hardware-software interaction problems, formal languages, and linear sequential machines. A large number of specific problems formulated in these areas are included in the report. Some recommendations are given for future research that may bridge the significant gaps between theory and practice in digital systems. (Author)
