BIOLOGIC REACTIONS OF CELLULAR ANTIBODIES WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO THEIR IMMUNO-PATHOLOGICAL AND IMMUNO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES.

Abstract

The ascitic fluid of rabbits, hyperimmunized with bovine serum albumin mixed with Freund's complete adjuvant, contained the homologous anaphylactic antibody in high concentration. The antibody induced passive cutaneous anaphylactic (PCA) reaction after latent periods of 45 min to 24 hr. Optimal reaction was induced in a latent period of 3 to 6 hr. Positive reaction was not observed after latent period of 48 hr. The antibody showed a 'slow' gamma-electrophoretic mobility and its molecular size seemed to be similar to that if IgG. It gave a single precipitin band with anti-rabbit serum or anti-IgG. The antibody activity was not influenced by heating to 56C from 30 min to 4 hr. The PCA reaction provoked by the antibody was inhibited by systematic antihistamine. (Author)
