ARBOR VIRUS INFECTIONS OF MONKEYS CAPTURED IN THE JUNGLES OF NORTHERN NIGERIA (Arbovirusnye Infektsii Obezyan Otlovlennykh v Dzhunglyakh Severnoi Nigerii),

Abstract

In this study a comparative description is given of the immunological structure of antibodies to six arbor viruses in monkeys, cattle as well as the local inhabitants of Northern Nigeria. One hundred sera from monkeys, mainly red marmosets, 100 sera from 2-3-year-old zebu and 64 sera from clinically healthy humans were examined. The results showed that the similarity of immunological structure in humans and monkeys suggests that the latter could play the role of indicator objects when organizing serological explorations to uninhabited territories.
