AN USSR. SIBERIAN BRANCH. HIGH-TEMPERATURE RESEARCH (SELECTED CHAPTERS),

Abstract

The author reviews the previous methods for measuring heat capacities of solids at high temperatures, concluding that each of these is inadequate for reasons of accuracy or ease of measurement. He then presents the theory, procedure and apparatus for the modulation method developed by his group at the Institute of Thermophysics, Siberian Division, Academy of Sciences of the USSR. The concluding two chapters present experimental data on heat capacity and vacancy formation in refractory metals, derived by the use of the new technique. (Author)
