AUTOMATION FROM THE HUNGARIAN PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC.

Abstract

Several systems designed for automatic process control are discussed. The article includes a brief mention of a disk storage system which may be used with several different computers. The disk file contains from one to ten foil disks with magnetic coatings; storage capacity is 1000 addresses per disk. Disks can be exchanged in 10 seconds, and data can be transferred from one disk to another within 25 millisec. Average address retrieval time is 5 millisec. Information write or readout may be done sequentially or in parallel. Disk file rotational speed is 6000 rpm, and it requires 300 w of power. (Author)
