SOVIET VENUS PROBES NEAR GOAL,

Abstract

The joint space flight of the 'Venus 5' and 'Venus 6' interplanetary probes is drawing toward its conclusion. For more than four months the sections, services, and stations of the command-telemetry complex and Coordination-Computer Center have been engaged in the responsible and intriguing scientific and engineering task of 'delivering' these automatic interplanetary stations to their target - the planet Venus. Their mission is the performance of a wide range of scientific studies along the flight path, in circumplanetary space, and within the atmosphere of Venus. (Author)
