VERTICAL CIRCULATION OF WATER IN THE NORTH TROPICAL AND EQUATORIAL ZONES OF THE PACIFIC OCEAN (Vertikalnaya Tsirkulyatsiya Vod v Severnoi Tropicheskoi i Ekvatorialnoi Zonakh Tikhogo Okeana),

Abstract

The vertical circulation of water in the north Tropical and Equatorial Zones of the Pacific Ocean is discussed. Calculations are based on observational data obtained by various expeditions. The vertical water movements are charted for winter and summer in surface, subsurface and intermediate water layers of the Tropical and Equatorial Zones of the Pacific Ocean. The intensity and seasonal variations of vertical velocities are evaluated. The results are supported by a number of indirect factors. (Author)
