A SOLUTION FOR RADIATION HEATING OF A DIATHERMANOUS SOLID SUBJECT TO CONVECTION COOLING,

Abstract

An exact solution is presented for the transient temperature distribution in a semiinfinite solid subjected to monochromatic radiation. The solid is assumed to absorb the radiation according to Lambert's Exponential Law of Absorption and the surface heat loss is governed by Newton's Law of Cooling. For the case of radiation with a spectral distribution the solution is given in the form of a definite integral. (Author)
