GAS CHROMATOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS OF LITHIUM CARBIDE IN LITHIUM HYDRIDE,

Abstract

Gas chromatography was used to determine mixtures of lithium hydride and lithium carbide (lithium acetylide). The sample was decomposed with water and the gaseous products were passed through a chromatograph column packed with aluminum oxide of 0.25-0.5 mm particle size. Thermal conductivity or ionization detectors were used. The column temperature and the carrier gas are not mentioned. The lithium carbide content was calculated from the amount of C2H2 in the gas.
