EFFECT OF MATERIAL AND CHEMICAL-HEAT TREATMENT OF GEARS ON THEIR SUPPORTING POWER AND LIFE,

Abstract

The article contains material concerning the effect of material and chemical-heat treatment of gears on their supporting power and life. Some of the items discussed are steel gears and selection of methods of their heat and chemical-heat treatment; volume hardening of gears, carburization and case-hardening of gears with martempering, effect of chemical composition of steel on the supporting power of case-hardened and hardened gears, effect of properties of the case-hardened layer and core on supporting power, effect of thickness of case-hardened layer on supporting power, nitriding gears, cyaniding and carbonitriding gears, surface hardening of gear teeth, materials used for manufacture of gears, etc. (Author)
