THE EFFECT OF EXCESS Ge ON THE VISCOSITY OF GeO2.

Abstract

Viscosity measurements on GeO2-Ge liquids containing up to 8.5 mole % Ge additions were made using a rotating coni-cylindrical silica viscometer. The viscosity-temperature dependence was observed to be of the Arrhenius form over the temperature range 1000-1300C. Comparison of these data with GeO2-Na2O viscosity data and an interpretation of the results are presented. (Author)
