EXPERIENCE WITH THE DESIGN AND OPERATION OF ANALOG-DIGITAL COMPUTING COMPLEXES BASED ON SMALL, MEDIUM, AND LARGE DIGITAL COMPUTERS,

Abstract

Three versions of an analog-digital system (ADS) based on the Ural-1, Dnepr, and M-20 digital computers were hooked up and tested. The MPT-9, MN-M, MNB-1 and other analog computers were used. A weak Co60 - source and a radiometer were used as a white-noise generator. Time saving from using the ADS instead of a digital computer was from considerable to nil, depending on the type of problem and skillfullness of load distribution between the DC and AC. Problems tried on the ADS included: linear digital regulators, supervisory-control systems, homogeneous-reaction kinetics, digital control of batchers, and extremal controllers.
