TELEMETERING OF OCEANOGRAPHIC DATA FOR THE NORTH PACIFIC STUDY,

Abstract

Oceanographic and meteorologic data from the mid-North Pacific are being telemetered daily to a Mobile Data Center situated on the campus of the University of California's Scripps Institution of Oceanography. These data are being collected from a large buoy, in support of Scripps' North Pacific Study. Data from smaller buoys are stored internally for routine recovery. The primary objectives of this program are to study the relationship between oceanographic and meteorological conditions over the North Pacific Ocean, and to study the relationship between Pacific Ocean conditions and climatic conditions over North America.
