GUIDE TO SUBMISSION OF DATA. FIRST ISSUE: GENERAL GUIDELINES.
Abstract
To facilitate the flow of data into the national repository and to make them available to the general user, NODC is now shifting its emphasis from standard formats to a flexible twofold approach: (1) The originator may send data in his own format, which subsequently will be standardized, and the data will be incorporated into the National Marine Data Base through NODC's General Data System. (2) NODC will accept a greater variety of oceanographic material that does not readily lend itself to computerization. The Guide to Submission of Data seeks to define a set of general guidelines that should be considered in submitting data, analytical products, or information to NODC. (Author)
