RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE SYMBOLIC THEMES OF DELUSIONAL SYSTEMS AND SOCIO-CULTURAL BACKGROUND.

Abstract

Potential methods for semantic analysis of schizophrenic verbal behavior were studied. The application of a semantic differential on selected key words from current verbal productions by patients was found to provide data which could be studied statistically. The words were found to cluster and a simplified method using only three dimensions was developed which was sensitive to changes in the verbal behavior of the patients during their course in the hospital.
