THREAT ORDERING CRITERIA AND EVALUATION FOR AN ANTI-BALLISTIC MISSILE DEFENSE.
Abstract
The paper is concerned with those criteria by which enemy ballistic missiles are threat ordered. A questionnaire was sent to Army Air Defense Officers at two senior service schools to elicit their opinions. The questionnaires were analyzed using Kendall's coefficient of concordance. Relative weights were determined for each criteria. A linear model was developed using selected criterion and their relative weights. The number of interceptors was fixed. A sample problem shows how one might use the linear model to determine which ballistic missile to engage first. The number of interceptors to be fired at a threat is discussed and a simple non-linear program is formulated where the number of interceptors can vary. (Author)
