STATEMENT BY SOVIET DEFENSE MINISTER, MARSHAL OF THE USSR A. GRECHKO, ON THE 52ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE SOVIET ARMED FORCES.

Abstract

A routinely rhetorical celebration of the exploits of the 52-year-old Soviet Armed Forces, the account, in addition to touching briefly on Lenin's contribution to military science and tracing the role of the Soviet Army and Navy in the Civil War and World War I, discusses briefly the present-day status of the Soviet military establishment. Some mention is made of the strategic missile forces, the national air-defense system, and the deep-water navy. (Author)
