METHOD OF REGULATING AND PROTECTING A TURBOCOMPRESSOR FROM SURGE,

Abstract

The invention involves a method of controlling a turbocompressor and protecting it against surge through the sequential action of a regulator on the control element of the regulating system and the discharge valve of the surge-protection system. To increase the economy of running the turbine compressor at maximal regimes and also to increase reliability, the maximum possible output signal from the regulator is set and the displacement of the control element is governed with the aid of a movable arresting device in accordance with the output signal magnitude. In case of a variation in the parameters of the compressor or its drive unit, the arresting device is displaced by varying the transmission ratio between the regulator and the control element.
