SONIC FLOW OF AN IDEAL GAS PAST HALF-BODIES,

Abstract

Procedures are derived for solving the problem of a transonic gas flow past semi-infinite bodies consistent with a given inequality. The unknown flow potentials are found by these procedures as the sum of two terms; one representing the perturbations produced by a finite body and the other having a higher order of smallness. The latter term represents the boundary conditions at the surface of a semi-infinite body. A formula is derived for determining the multiplicative constant contained in the first term of the perturbation potential of an axisymmetrical flow. (Author)
