DIELECTRIC NONLINEARITY AND LOSS IN THE (Ba, Sr) TiO3 AND (Pb, Sr)TiO3 SYSTEMS.

Abstract

Properties of dielectrics which offer promise in applications such as voltage-variable capacitors in automatic antenna matching circuits are reported. Eight ferroelectric compositions of different Curie temperatures, four in the (Ba, Sr)TiO3 system and four in the (Pb, Sr)TiO3 system, were prepared and variations of their dielectric constant and loss tangent at 1 MHz as a function of dc voltage were determined. The greatest change in dielectric constant with dc voltage, for those materials which maintained a loss tangent less than 0.01, was 3:1 exhibited by Ba(.65)Sr(.35)TiO3.
