BEHAVIORAL CONDITIONING AND THE ANALYSIS OF PHYSIOLOGICAL STRESS RESPONSES.

Abstract

Progress in the experimental analysis of selected behavioral stress models is documented in part by the inclusion of three pre-publication drafts. One report gives details in the use of toxic doses of physostigmine as an aversive event to maintain chronic avoidance behavior in monkeys. A second report gives results of an experiment in which continuous measurement of blood pressure and heart rate was obtained in baboons subjected to a behavioral stress program in excess of one year. A brief summary of current effort shows how a dramatic, acute hypertensive state may be produced experimentally in the baboon by complex avoidance contingencies. (Author)
