BINAURAL INTERACTION AND LATERALITY: COMPARISON OF CORTICAL EVOKED POTENTIALS PRODUCED BY CLICKS AND TONE PIP STIMULI.

Abstract

Laterality and binaural interaction at the level of the auditory cortex were studied in three cats. The evoked potentials in response to acoustic stimuli of clicks and tone-pips were picked up using bilateral macroelectrodes. The problem was drawn from existent knowledge of homolateral/contralateral relationships in the animal, and studies in the human which have indicated asymmetry of function in the cerebral hemispheres related to verbal and nonverbal properties of acoustic stimulation.
