FINAL REPORT 1960-1969.

Abstract

A summary is given of research which emphasized (a) problems of material characterization that are relevant to real operating conditions of propellant grains and thus to their design; (b) problems of analysis that reflect the observation that solid propellants of the high filler content used are quasi-homogeneous and quasi-continuous only at the very small strains that are far removed from conditions of incipient failure, as well as (c) problems arising from the desire to increase the operating burning pressures in the grain to an extent that would require the use of circumferential wire reinforcement.
