ON MINIMIZING THE RESPONSE OF STRUCTURES TO DYNAMIC LOADING,
Abstract
The response of elastic beams to general distributed dynamic loading is considered. A bound on the displacement of the beam is derived, and the design which minimizes this response bound is determined for some particular cases and is compared to the optimal design for minimum deflection under static loading.
