FINAL TECHNICAL REPORT.

Abstract

The research was primarily in the area of radio wave propagation and utilization in the very low radio frequencies. Because the utility of VLF transmissions for standard frequency comparisons and for radio aids to navigation was recognized at about the beginning of this contract, much of our effort and much of the following report deals with these matters of utilization. It is believed that discovery and dissemination of facts learned under this contract has already lead to practical advances of great importance; notably the network of high precision frequency comparisons between the various standards laboratories throughout the world, and the Omega system of navigation which is just coming into operation.
