ROCKET INSTRUMENTATION FOR PCA MEASUREMENTS-BLACK BRANT 17.757,
Abstract
A Black Brant rocket, instrumented to measure ionospheric parameters was launched from Churchill Research Range, Manitoba, Canada, in November 1968, during a Polar Cap Absorption event. The purpose of the flight was to investigate input proton fluxes and corresponding effects upon the ionospheric D-region. The payload of the rocket contained instruments to measure input proton fluxes, electron density and temperature, positive ion density, X-rays, Lyman-alpha radiation, and atmosheric optical emissions. Experimental procedures and instrumentation are described. (Author)
