NUCLEAR STUDY OF ATOMS AND IONS IN SOLIDS AND LIQUIDS.

Abstract

The report presents the results of the work which was concerned with measurements of hyperfine interactions on various atoms and ions in solids using the techniques of the Mossbauer effect and perturbed gamma-gamma angular correlations. The work has yielded information regarding magnetic fields and electric field gradients at the nuclear sites in materials such as magnetic alloys, garnets, and other rare-earth metals and compounds as well as the magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments of excited nuclear states.
