A CONTINUUM THEORY OF DISLOCATIONS AND DISLOCATION LOOPS.

Abstract

A continuum theory of dislocations and dislocation loops is developed which encompasses both the static and dynamic theory. This was accomplished by first examining the separate contributions of dislocations and dislocation loops to the total plastic distortion. These separate contributions were then combined to obtain a relation between the total plastic distortion and the dislocation state tensors. This equation was then used to establish relations between the dislocation state tensors and some of the basic quantities of the static and dynamic theories of dislocations. (Author)
