EXPANSION OF THE SYSTEM CAPABILITIES OF STANDARD PRODUCTION COMPUTERS,

Abstract

An examination is made of problems of using multiprogrammed processing in serial processing digital computers, particularly when the computer operates with independent peripheral input-output devices. The characteristics of serial processing computers operating with such input-output devices can be improved by reducing the response time of the computers. Several ways of reducing are considered, including changes in the referencing procedure of the mass storage. The combined operation of external input-output devices and a Minsk-22 serial processing computer, with referencing of the mass storage (magnetic tape) is considered as an example.
