THE FACTORS THAT FORM THE THERMAL STRATIFICATION OF ANTARCTIC WATERS (O Faktorakh, Formiruyushchikh Termicheskuyu Stratifikatsiyu Antarkticheskikh Vod),

Abstract

In the investigation of factors that form the thermal stratification of Antarctic waters, the author examines not only local processes but also those processes that occur outside the Antarctic region. Therefore, the vertical and horizontal distribution of water temperature, salinity, oxygen and other phenomena over wide areas is examined in conjunction with water movement and turbulence. The relationship and variation of these parameters are defined by mathematical formulas. The results are compared with heat budget equations and their degree of accuracy is appraised. (Author)
